The sunrise over Ile aux Mattes is incredible. At dawn we see the boatmen heading out to sea in their frail skiffs.

The morning is devoted to filming images of the work Raymond Botoubé does for collecting plastic. Around 11 am the boatmen come back and offer us fresh squid which will be our lunch.

Bertrand takes care of the kitchen and prepares us stuffed squid. We finally take the time to enjoy a bath and put on our mask and snorkel fins. We are going to fetch water from the village to fill our cans. After this day spent on the Île aux Mattes we decide to raise the anchor at sunset. It is with a twinge of heart that we set sail for Ambodifototra. We drop anchor around 11 p.m. and get a well-deserved night’s sleep.
