After a good night’s well-deserved rest, the captain goes ashore to do the formalities of arrival on Malagasy territory.
Formalities always take a long time in Madagascar: Immigration, police station, customs, payment visas and arrival tax for the boat.

While the captain takes care of the papers in town, the crew must stay on board. We clean the boat and prepare the descent ashore. We have permission to refuel and it is with great pleasure that the crew can finally set foot on dry land. It is 3:30 p.m. when we finish the formalities.
We have an appointment in town at 4:00 p.m. with the Mayor of Sainte Marie to discuss the problem that plastic poses to Sainte Marie. At sunset time, we sip the famous THB which is the local beer in Madagascar. We do some shopping and it’s Frédéric who concocts a succulent coconut-smoked chicken, a real delight! We remake the world under the stars before diving for a well-deserved rest.
